Definition
A malignant tumour characterised by the uncontrolled growth and spread of malignant cells and invasion of tissue. This includes leukaemia, sarcoma and lymphoma (including Hodgkin's disease).
Claim Requirements
- Histological confirmation required
- Must show invasion of tissue
- Pre-malignant conditions excluded
Exclusions
- Non-invasive cancers in situ
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma of skin (unless spread)
- Stage 1A melanoma (less than 1mm thickness without ulceration)
- CIN, VAIN, VIN stages 1, 2 and 3
- Prostate cancer staged T1a or T1b (Gleason score less than 6)
